Sui Returns

It's been a bit since my last update. To recap, my founder Serafina Sapphire and her husband Urshanabi had founded something truly wacky and together had five kids, two sets of twins and one bad apple. The eldest set of twins, Basil and Briar, were off at college, Briar had become heiress. The younger set of twins, Olive and Orchid were finishing out their teenhood while the youngest sibling Ornella had only begun to be a teen, and was now old enough to get into some real mischief if I didn't watch it! Also living with the family was family friend Owain and his alien daughter Violet. Brahm, another family friend, had moved out earlier. Also living with the family was a family of wild wolves. Whitlock, his mate Sui and their pups Birch and Onyx where all members of the family at one time. Whitlock and Onyx still lived at home, Birch had been given away to Brahm and Sui ran away after some rather sinister growling and chasing from her son Onyx. But, that's all behind us now. The remaining members of the household live together more or less peacefully, for now.

Some things never change though...

"Looks like you'll be safe from my neglect, little fishies, I'm not heiress after all."

The Gables Redux

Wow, who ever thought I'd get around to this? I finally worked out what was going wrong and can share my legacy house! I'm a little nervous about it actually, because it's really not all that great. I've built much better houses than this, though not on this scale of course. Keep in mind, this was built a very long time ago and has remained pretty much unchanged, this started as a Base and Uni legacy and still remains pretty much a Base and Uni house. I have made small concessions to the new EPs in playing style and such but in furnishings and use of new EP stuff, not so much.

Some things to keep in mind about The Gables. One, this is a no Free Will house, with bare bone furnishings. Everything in it is on a need to own basis. No TVs or gaming systems, no decorations of any kind, just what is required. I took the time to strip out all of the custom content and replace it with default equivalents. The house looks a bit different because of that. Also everything is furnished to my particular play style. A quick overview for those not familiar with my legacy.

- Child's study room. Once a kid gets an A+ in school they do not need to do that day's homework. You can use that homework book to reserve a space for them. Sell one of the daisy vases and set their homework there. The next day use camera angle 5 to watch them do homework and when their bar starts to spin down hit pause and cancel the interaction. They will leave the assignment underneath untouched and bring future assignments there so you can keep track of them.

- Mausoleum. Keep the beds of the dead in the basement I provided underneath the mausoleum. Buy stairs on a need to use basis or else the ghosts will get out. The ghosts will get out anyway on their first night of haunting when they go to mourn their death. All future nights they will spend in the mausoleum.

-Portrait studio. Every Saturday Sim time I hit camera angle 9 and have everyone gather in the Portrait Studio for their weekly picture. I use a combination of moveobjects, snapobjects to grid and the camera career reward to arrange things. I have a lighting fixture exported from the game that is used in CAS to light up their faces. Some other bright light would do though, it's a bit dark without it. Going into tab mode and hitting 4 should give you a well framed picture, if not you can adjust it from there with little effort.

Time to Vote for the Heir/ess!

But, first a short update to get caught up to where I'm at in game. Since there are a lot of Sims, here's everyone on the lot. We have my founder Serafina and her husband Urshanabi. We have the alien baby's daddy Owain and his daughter Violet. We have five potential heir/ess': Basil, Briar, Olive, Orchid and Ornella. Yeah, I went from naming the founder after a firestone to naming all of the kids after plants. I'm strange. We also have the founder wolf Whitlock whose mate Sui has run away and their pups Birch and Onyx.

Here Olive and Orchid finally give their opinion on Owain's grilled cheese as opposed to Brahm's that they grew up with.

Serafina Sapphire Deals With Teenagers

On the same night that Violet became a child, the twins Olive and Orchid became teens. They had pretty much been dressed and treated identically up until now but now they had differing aspirations and personalities so i decided it was time to dress them to suit. For Olive I rolled Popularity, so it was time to deck her out (in pink!) and give her some nice make-up and tweased eyebrows. Very much the teen daughter that's always tying up the phone now.

Anaitis Windling Goes Greek

After an invigorating New Years party things settled down for a while at Windling Gables, until :Cael:: gave birth to his second set of twins that is. He gave birth to a third son that I named :Vale:: and his first daughter that I named :Valeda::. The entire family came into the nursery to welcome the new additions.

Whitlock and Sui Have Puppies

Now that I had my alien it seemed overkill to have so many guys at loose ends in the house. So I decided to wait until Owain reached the top of his career and then have him quit his job in perma-plat and get to live in the main house with his daughter as a live in Maid/Repairman/Cook/Nanny/Tutor/Wolf Caretaker person. Brahm was going to stay until Owain could quit though because the work schedules of everyone in the house meant there were brief times when only kids and Brahm were home still. So for now Brahm was still the live in Maid/Repair-ah you get it.

New Years at Windling Gables

It has been a long time since I have blogged my Windlings! Two more updates and then I will do a Windling Retrospective. Which will include a Windling family tree (finally!) and a nice easy overview of the Windling family over the past fifteen generations. I know I get confused at times so you guys must be postively lost.

Anyway, as a refresher to where we are. We are in sixth generation, second bloodline. The heir :Cerebrus:: and his wife :Veronica:: were elders, their ten children :Anaitis::, :Arthur::, :Louhi::, :Adella::, :Anastasia::, :Eros2::, :Eris::, :Epona::, :Erato:: and :Erebrus:: were all off at college. :Cerebrus::' brother :Cael:: was staying with him and his wife, and raising his two alien sons :Vasu:: and :Vasanta:: while plodding along with his second alien pregnancy. :Mercury::, of course, lurked in the background as he always does.

Updating for the first time in over a month and it's a filler chapter, I'm sorry!

The Maryland

My latest house, The Maryland, might look familiar to you. That's because this is my Officially Wacky BoolProp Challenge house. I just finished it in game and decided to offer it for download.

The Maryland is a three bedroom, four bathroom home with a nursery. It is designed for my peculiar playability with a teen/child play room filled with Gamer career rewards and an extensive skills room in the basement, energizer rooms in the basement and on the ground floor, a child/teen study room on the ground floor and a two room nursery upstairs, but it still could work for standard play as it wouldn't take much to convert the rooms. The double doors on two of the bedrooms upstairs are to keep the Bad Apple out of them by locking each of the doors to "Allow Only Me" for each of the two occupants of the room. The Study Room is my way of keeping track of homework. Once they get an A in school they don't need to do homework that night. You can use that homework book to "reserve" a spot on one of the tables and they will take all future assignments there. After they finish that next night's homework, as soon as the meter starts spinning down you can cancel the interaction and they won't even touch the lower assignment thus keeping their place. When you have six kids it makes it much easier to keep track of who has what homework and whether or not it's done.

Note: Ignore the stuff in the pictures that requires stuff packs. I felt guilty and took all stuff pack required stuff out at the last minute. No stuff packs are needed!

For giggles the original description of this house plan:

Homes are not constructed alone of brick and stone and wood. These are merely the materials out of which the walls are fashioned. Artistic structures like The Maryland are simply inviting, comfortable places where ambitious hearts can quietly and undistrubed build homes of culture, refinement and love which neither climate nor man can mar.

Owain Blatherwell Gets Abducted

Before I knew it the first set of twins had grown into children. I also had gotten Serafina pregnant with her second pregnancy. With all the men hanging around I had plenty of people to pick up the slack in the cooking, cleaning, repairing and child rearing. In fact, aside from having the kids, Serafina was more of the bread winner type between working on career related stuff and cranking out paintings. The men were the stay at home types that stargazed all night and kept house during the day. Anyway, here's Briar all grown up in her pink PJs.

Enayla's Eyes Geneticised & Towniefied + Defaults

Here is Enayla's second set of Eyes for the Eyeless that was made available at InSim here made available for use on townies and geneticised. To make this perfectly clear, these are not my eyes! They were made by the incredibly talented Enayla and if you want to download the originals and check out some of her other stuff then please follow the above link.

Basically what this set of eyes will do is make it possible for townies to have more than the five basic eye colors, they will be able to display any of the 28. The eyes have also been geneticised, which means they are not going to always be uber dominant like custom eyes are but have been categorized in the same way as the standard eye colors. I only use the genetic levels that the game uses (one dominant and two recessive) and don't go down to the unused recessives at three and four because I actually want all of the eyes to be possibilities in children and grandchildren and not be suppressed out of all existence because they were too recessive.

Anyway, here's how I have them categorized as genetics, keep in mind I enjoy the fantastical and, of course, I made sure my founder's flamingo eyes from my wacky boolprop challenge were made dominant because I do not want to see those eyes fade out if I can help it.

I also made a set of default eye replacements out of these eyes. So the geneticised and townified eyes come with a version to be used with these defaults and a version you can use without. The second .zip is just to help you not double up on certain eye colors if you decide to use my defaults. The first set can be used with any other default replacement set!

Serafina Sapphire Has Twins

So, one of my major flaws as a simmer is I cannot, cannot stop playing to build a house if there are Sims to be played on the lot. Especially if they are Sims from a challenge. That's why I had such a hard time with my first go around. Hoarding money was hard as they had to keep buying things for the expanding family and they were living in a shack for several seasons and I got fed up. I like building and decorating. Forcing my Sims into a life of destitution just to be able to save up money for a shell is not my cup of tea. But here I had a Sim that was starting with 20k and would have another 50k after selling out her inventory. So I went and built her house inbetween boring college years. A simple shell of a starter that was worth about 18k when I was finished with it.

Simlogical's Dog Bath Recolors

I'm using a dog bath outdoors in my Officially Wacky BoolProp Challenge. It was originally just a regular bath but I was sick of canceling "Take a Bath" from the queue of my exhibitionist Sims, who thought it was a grand idea to take a bath outdoors in a thunderstorm. So, to save clicks, I found Simlogical's Dog Bath, a bathtub that only allowed you to bathe dogs in it. And, it was the same mesh bath as my current dog bath! Perfect! Except it didn't have the recolor I was using. Only the default color the object shows up in. So I extracted the textures for the other two colors the Maxis bath has and added the green and the brown colors to Simlogical's Dog Bath. Enjoy!

This bath was made by Simlogical. You need to go to that site first to get the Dog Bath. It is under Sims 2 Downloads > Petting. The textures are Maxis textures, not mine, all I did was some finagling in SimPE.

Serafina Sapphire Founds Something Truly Wacky

I'm sorry that I'm taking a bit of a break from my legacy playing. But, they will be back and before too long! I'm dong a small deviation in the form of something Truly Wacky. By playing my own challenge that I wrote for BoolProp, The Officially Wacky BoolProp Challenge, where I put together all of my zaniest challenge ideas in one place. I also attempted to make the challenge short, fun and easy. Well, two out of three ain't bad, this was far from easy!

A few notes about CC and the neighborhood. I have geneticized and NPC available skins by Enayla installed (all the ones from her Pixie set, basically) so there are 24 possible skin tones you will see NPCs, townies, etc show up in. Another thing, instead of just being either s1 or s2 babies can be born with either the mother's s1, the father's s2 or the several skintones that have been assigned inbetween when they were geneticized. Much, much more variety in skin tones both in playables and non-playables alike. Secondly, eyes, I have a set of 24 towniefied and geneticized eyes, Enayla's eyes for the eyeless from Insim, this means townies can have any of the 24 eye colors and the custom ones outside of the range of six standard eyes have been given normal genetics so they aren't always dominant. Thirdly, I have new face templates in, so you'll notice a difference in the faces of the Sims. Fourthly, I have a clean empty neighborhood so there are no default townies. Finally, I have my new mythology name hack installed. So everyone has cool names too. Now, moving on to the challenge.

Meet Serafina Sapphire. And, yes, there are pink sapphire's, they're quite beautiful actually. She's a neat freak Knowledge Sim with a penchant for the paranormal. She has a lifetime want to max her skills. The easiest LTW in the game. I tried and failed this challenge once with her as an adult and am trying again with her going to college first.

"I like pink, supposedly that works in my favor."

The *New* Mythology Townie Name Hack *Fixed*

Please either remove and redownload or rename the hack from BitsyMythologyNameHack.package to live.package. Thanks!

This is a hack that will replace all of your townie names with names from mythology. This will only work on new townies, NPCs and orphans that are generated and will not affect any existing ones. This will only work in English US and UK language installs of the game. If you have another language install and would like this hack please let me know.

For a look at the names included in this hack check out the following lists.
