The *New* Mythology Townie Name Hack *Fixed*
This is a hack that will replace all of your townie names with names from mythology. This will only work on new townies, NPCs and orphans that are generated and will not affect any existing ones. This will only work in English US and UK language installs of the game. If you have another language install and would like this hack please let me know.
For a look at the names included in this hack check out the following lists.
Female First Names
Male First Names
Last Names
Female Pet Names
Male Pet Names

Downloaded times.
In order to get the full benefit of this hack you need to have a completely blank custom neighborhood to start from. A fresh neighborhood in game duplicates townies from Pleasantview. I suggest following this tutorial to make it generate all fresh townies. It covers how to get and use blank templates for every expansion pack save for Bon Voyage.
If you don't have Bon Voyage stop here. Just put the hack in your Downloads folder, read over the tutorial and you are good to go. If you do have Bon Voyage then please read on.
As for Bon Voyage, I suggest you use the V001 files available here in the same manner that is used for all other EPs in the tutorial. Only the V001 files. If none of what I said makes sense, please read the tutorial!
From here on out this part is BETA!
I have also made available modded files of the Bon Voyage locals for all three destinations with names from the hack. Using the clean templates will force fresh locals to be generated that won't be dressed in local garb, they will be dressed in street clothes. Hence the reason I went to the work of modding their files to include names to match the rest of your neighborhood, so that you can have the local garb and the exotic name. This is also the reason this hack is beta.
Please back up your game before you install this part of the hack!
To install names for locals in Bon Voyage do the following:
Go to C: > Program Files > EA GAMES > The Sims 2 Bon Voyage > TSData > Res > Neighborhood Templates open up the neighborhood of locals you want to replace. Right click on the Characters folder and back it up. Copy the entire folder to someplace safe. Then take the Characters folder from the corresponding neighborhood below and copy the new character files and allow them to overwrite the existing ones in the Characters folder. The other method is, of course, to use the blank templates and then use the methods outlined in the thread I linked above to custom create your locals for each neighborhood. The choice is yours.

Asian Neighborhood - Takemizu Village
A001.zip
Beach Neighborhood - Tikkii Island
T001.zip
In case you skipped ahead and didn't read anything I have said and decided to download these last few zips anyway DO NOT put these files in your Downloads folder! Stop. And, please read everything I said from the warning that this part is BETA until now. Please. Thank you.

ZOMG Bitsy! This is awesome! Thanks so much! So I just put it in my Downloads folder and play right? (I don't have BV, so I'm not worried about the BETA version.)

Yes, just keep in mind if you want the Pet names to show you need blank Pets templates, if you want it to work for a new neighborhood you are going to need a blank Plesantview template, etc. In your case just ignore everything after: "As for Bon Voyage..."

But it will work if I just generate new townies and NPC's now, right?

Yep, any new ones generated after the hack is installed will have the new names.

I was just wondering when and if you were going to start posting about your legacy again? I really love all the houses but I miss the Legacy.

Hey, Bitsy, I lurve all of the mythological names, but I was wondering exactly how you did it (actually making up the names yourself, I mean). I would lurve to make my own hack like this so that I can have names in the game that I personally made up and therefore like more than most of the other name hacks I've seen. Thanks! :D
