Christmas and New Years at Windling Gables

Filed under University Legacy Challenge > 6th Generation on September 23, 2007

The house now held only Amalthea the widow, Mercury the zombie, Branwen and Orion our happy heir and spouse and the four children they had between them: Dylan, Damon, Valene and Valora. And, I was wrong! I do have a toddler picture of Valora! Here she is: Valora with her twin sister Valene in the background.

University Legacy Challenge

"The funny bunny. I has it."

In the mean time Damon who, while I was mentally writing this I continually called Dylan. Gah! Anyway, Damon became a child who I sent straight to the skills room to work on those skill based scholarships with Mercury.

University Legacy Challenge

"Wow, according to this scanner you're really, really old uncle Mercury! You're not really my uncle, are you?"

And, it was Saturday again!

University Legacy Challenge

First bloodline, sixth generation: from left to right across the back are Mercury, Orion, Branwen and Amalthea, and from left to right across the front are *squints* Valene, Valora, Damon and Dylan.

Once that Saturday passed it was Christmas time at Windling Gables. Which at this point of time took place in the middle of winter and was only later moved to the last day of winter. It was a time of celebration at Windling Gables and a great way to make sure the bonds Branwen had created in college, particularly with the other bloodline, didn't get a chance to fade. I even made sure Branwen had Christmas presents for all her guests: in the form of a §6,000 sculpture which would give me the max allowable relationship boost from a gift (sans Cool Shades of course) and which helped the party score a whole lot!

University Legacy Challenge

"Merry Christmas, Gomez!"

University Legacy Challenge

"Merry Christmas, Dinah!"

In fact those statues got passed around so much over the next few Christmases that it got to the point where I think the same 20 or so were making the rounds amongst the Windlings. They were always pleased to get them though, and then just as pleased to give them away again next Christmas! It always led to great parties.

University Legacy Challenge

"What a roof raiser!"

I thought it was so cool that the twin's birthday fell on Christmas. And, no I didn't repeat my mistake of having birthdays during parties. (Especially since Windling birthdays usually take place in the kitchen and I lock the kitchen, and the nursery now that I think about it, to guests to keep them out of the fridges and out by the buffet tables where they belong!)

University Legacy Challenge

"Hang a shining star upon the highest bough, and have yourself a merry little Christmas now."

And, of course, Santa showed up that night, but he wasn't very exciting about it. Not this time anyway.

University Legacy Challenge

"Ho! Ho! Ah, forget about it."

For a brief time Damon, Valene and Valora were all children at the same time.

University Legacy Challenge

*giggles*

But, that didn't last long. Soon Damon was a teen. And, I rolled Family! Ugh. The two aspirations out of the six that I do not want my first bloodline heir to be are Family and Romance and now both of my potential heirs are Family! That's for second bloodline! So not fair. Guess I'll be re-rolling them both in college and hoping for the best.

University Legacy Challenge

"What can I say? I want to have lots of babies!"

I did find out though with having my Sims stargaze from 7PM-4AM in the middle of winter, they usually end up coming in a bit... chilled.

University Legacy Challenge

"It's f-f-f-freezing out there!"

So I hadn't added a downtown hood yet as I was still looking around for a method to add one cleanly without any pre-mades being added to my neighborhood, etc. Besides which I heard that if you had a grand vampire bite a playable they proceed to infect a small percentage of the neighborhood, which I didn't want. So, since I was kinda into playing at the time and not really interested in working out adding downtown just yet or dealing with potential biting issues I did this (by the way I did figure out how to both add a downtown and have the no biting hack installed now).

I picked a Windling that no one currently in the household knew. I chose Benjamin Windling née Long. Then I had Dylan scour community lots to try and find him. It took a few tries but he did and was now working on befriending him, with a little winter magic, a very expensive gift, and some cool shades.

University Legacy Challenge

"Bite me!"

Of course, Benjamin didn't comply as the relationship wasn't high enough yet but it did progress nicely.

Here Damon demonstrates well into dawn just how freezing cold it was to stargaze all night.

University Legacy Challenge

"I still have ch-ch-chills!"

On the last day of winter I had my Windlings celebrate New Years. This was later moved to the last day of Spring to be concurrent with the Sim calendar rather than loosely concurrent with a real world calendar.

University Legacy Challenge

"Happy New Year!"

The twins tried desperately to stay up until midnight but the poor things began drooping around 9 or 10 so I shooed them off to bed.

University Legacy Challenge

"So tired..."

Unfortunately just as midnight arrived and everyone had queued up "See Old Father Time" the police arrived to break up the party. Apparently the radio that had been on every night for the past five generations was too loud on that particular night as subsequent new years parties went off without a hitch as long as that small boom box was turned off.

University Legacy Challenge

"Alright people, happy new year! Now go home."

I thought this was interesting. The skunk came and visited my lot for the umpteenth time. Only this time he wandered his away around back. Then when he decided it was time to leave he did what all Sims did and took the shortest route to get off the lot. Which involved going straight through the middle of the house. I ended up capturing this moment and making it into a wallpaper as well.

University Legacy Challenge

"I'm in ur cribz... stinkin' up ur petz."

It wasn't long before Branwen joined Amalthea in elderhood.

University Legacy Challenge

"Looks like my life is winding to a close."

I also finally got Dylan's relationship with Benjamin high enough to accept a bite. I didn't know about the influence interaction (the Nightlife guide was the only one I didn't have for the longest time). I had Benjamin invite Dylan over, Dylan asked to bring a friend and I said sure. I thought it was so cute that he brought his younger brother Damon.

University Legacy Challenge

"You vill accept a bite from me...." "Sure!"

University Legacy Challenge

*Chomp*

University Legacy Challenge

"Whoa..."

University Legacy Challenge

"I'm a vampire!"

University Legacy Challenge

"Cool."

Ooooh my gosh!!! I had a feeling that something like this was going to happen, with the vampire thing and all! I think you dropped a hint earlier! I'm still stumped, but I love vampires! They are seriously so awesome! That picture of the skunk is sooo cute! ^^ I want it as my pet!!! Valora and Velene are really cute by the way, funny how their birthday rolled on Christmas! And that caption of Santa was pretty funny. I laughed out loud ^^ Bothersome thing about the aspirations though, hope university will give them a new roll! I love it how you update daily =D

Awesomes, Dylan is a vampire! Melanie's right, back in June you said that one of the bedrooms would later be the Vampire room. A question though, did you want Dylan to be a vampire out of curiosity, or was there a particular reason? And that sucks, both of them rolled family. However, with cheesecake, those 10 babies sure will come a lot easier! And randomness, but why is Amalthea still alive?!?! Branwen is an elder, and Amalthea is STILL alive! Or did you forget to add her death to the update? ;)

Thanks for the comment, Josh! To answer what you said the reason Dylan is a vampire is because I'm going for the undead scholarship. I also go into fringe benefits for going after the vampire thing next entry. And, no I didn't forget to blog Amalthea's death, believe it or not she's still alive! She was the oldest elder I have ever had and was nearly 90 when she finally passed away. Makes me glad I had Branwen move in when she did!

Thanks for the nice comment, Melanie, I'm playing Dylan and Damon in college now so I have my fingers crossed! Once I get caught up to where I'm at in game play I most likely will end up slowing down on updates. Probably down to once every three days or so sounds about right. Depending on how many pictures I take and what's going on!
