Ophelia Born Dies by Satellite

Filed under University Legacy Challenge > 5th Generation on August 26, 2007

It was just another day at the Windling Household. My heir Nimue was painting, while her husband Martin and new Roomie Kennedy were off at work. Their daughter Branwen was off at school while the family zombie Mercury was busy working on his latest novel. Aeolus, the latest college graduate, was just moved home and was spending his nights attempting to be abducted by aliens. It was at this peaceful point that I sent Ophelia out to gaze at the clouds only to have this happen:

University Legacy Challenge

It was quite a shock and happened so quickly I only got good aftermath photos of it. I distinctly remember raising a ruckus and pointing at the screen announcing that Ophelia had been killed by a falling satellite, only to have my brother in law look over disinterestedly from his computer and say, "Well, isn't that what you wanted?" Talk about anti-climatic.

University Legacy Challenge

"Tisk, what are the chances, eh?"

This was soon followed by everyone that was at home, including the hired help trying to make it out there to shrug at Ophelia's death. Except for Nimue and Aeolus who genuinely liked the girl for some reason.

University Legacy Challenge

"Oh, the humanity!"

By the time most of the Sims got their act together enough to work themselves into the little corner Ophelia had died in she had long since passed.

University Legacy Challenge

"One passenger, going up."

But, at least I had finally managed to earn my Orange Ghost!

Life moved on. Branwen came home an over achiever that day.

University Legacy Challenge

"Sweet."

But, before I had her get those last few scholarships I almost got another ghost color. Unfortunately it was an heir so I decided that simply could not be. Nimue was cooking dinner for her and her husband and, instead of the stove catching on fire, she did. Her husband's spraying her seemed to do absolutely nothing. But, since he was in the room and they were in love at least she then smiled through most of the rest of the ordeal. It was only after Aeolus showed up, someone of whom she was not that fond, that she finally started to freak out.

After that ordeal was over and done with I sent Branwen off to college with half a point in scholarships.

University Legacy Challenge

"I'm out of here, to a place where people have the sense not to use the stove!"

Meanwhile off at college, Ivy was my only Sim that had to sit and study to get necessary skill points before working on filling her study meter. I can't count the number of times she was only ten hours from her final and I realize all her studying had been for naught because she didn't have the necessary skill points.

University Legacy Challenge

"You would think, as a Knowledge Sim, I would have picked this up somewhere."

Beowulf was trying his best to show off to the ladies by heading to campus and bringing back stuff a great deal bigger then a mere pizza. Like, you know a whole desk. To a room that was full of study space where a desk wouldn't have been practical in the least.

University Legacy Challenge

"Um, hun, I hate to tell you this..."

Also, I can't believe I forgot to tell you this, but when Nimue graduated she graduated with 20k and 15 friends but did not graduate Summa Cum Laude. I got sloppy her last semester and got her five hour pop up only to find her grade meter half full. I had everyone in the Greek House stop what they were doing and come and group research with her to try and get it up as quickly as possible. In hind sight I probably should have had her drop assignment books everywhere and had people do them for her. Anyway, it didn't manage to quite get full so she only earned two of the points an heir can earn, not three. Though I forgot to record even those! So I shall right now.

Points Earned: One point for Nimue earning over 20K at college. One point for Nimue having 15 friends at graduation. One point for new ghost color: Orange (Ophelia). Branwen earned half a point in scholarships.

Points Lost Rescinded: Two points for Owain and Amalthea going into aspirational failure since they did so on a college lot and are not, strictly speaking, considered the heirs of this legacy challenge.

Wow! What ARE the chances of that! You are so lucky. Is this the first time it has happened to you? And how on earth did you get a ceiling?

Wow, Naomi's right, that is really lucky, but it's a bigger chance than an abduction right? I don't know, I'll have to go check at MATY. Congrats on getting your ghost color! Btw, don't you hate it when a Sim that has had maxed cooking since teenhood sets the kitchen on fire? It has happened to me, I was upset, LOL. Congrats again!

I think it's a smaller chance then an abduction, actually. But, it can happen day or night to make up for that. She was very nearly an elder by the time she was finally crushed by a satellite and I was seriously considering moving her out and trying again with someone new. It wasn't as quick as it looked, she spent most of her life looking at clouds first!

Yes, it's the first time that I had this kind of death, and the ceiling is from MTS2, they are just called ceiling tiles. They are a pain in the butt to install but they open up so many camera angles that will now looks nice that I find it very much worth it!
