Nimue Windling Deals With Teenagers

Filed under University Legacy Challenge > 5th Generation on August 12, 2007

My this bloodline's generation is going by quickly! Already heir and spare have been born and, while plenty of males have been faithfully trying every night, none of them have been abducted. Right now Mercury is helping the kid earn their scholarships, inbetween working on his novels, Nimue is busy painting, while Martin and Othello are busy working on the friend base by day and trying to be abducted by night, Ophelia spends her days gazing at the cloud and her nights gazing at the stars hoping for a sight of that elusive satellite before it crashes down on her, of course. The kids, Beowulf and Branwen are busy being kids, that is they are working on scholarships during their every waking moment. And, of course, I promptly follow this up with a picture of them not doing just that.

University Legacy Challenge

"Aren't we so sweet?"

In fact, they are my first kids to have earned all their skill based scholarships (save for logic) before they became teens, so I had them paint for the rest of their childhood.

University Legacy Challenge

"Selling masterpieces is hard work!"

And, here's Ophelia doing just that. They can only do this until their fun and comfort is full so when she stops I usually have her go and relieve herself and take a shower which pushes things down just enough for her to want to watch cloud for a few hours more. She also has become very good at keeping the place clean and in good repair. When she's not doing this anyway:

University Legacy Challenge

"That cloud right there? Totally a teddy bear."

Othello had managed to make 30 Best Friends, so I had Othello invite over one of his friends to move in, good old Kennedy Cox. Who will work on earning §100,000 by day, and being abducted by aliens by night.

University Legacy Challenge

"This place is loaded!"

Yes, it took until Othello was a day or two into being an elder before he had 30 Best Friends, but with the impossible want point now under my belt I was ready to move him on out of here.

University Legacy Challenge

"Good-bye, good-bye! You can get off the Precious now!"

Not much time passed before the twins became teens. For Branwen I rolled Knowledge, with a wonderful lifetime want.

University Legacy Challenge

"What can I say? I'm easy to please."

For Beowulf on the other hand I rolled Romance. Ick.

University Legacy Challenge

"Hey, I can be useful in other ways."

No matter what aspiration they were though, it was time to get back to working on earning those scholarships.

University Legacy Challenge

"Dunno what to do? Hey, bust a move!"

University Legacy Challenge

"Alright, I totally got this one."

Beowulf managed to become an over achiever in no time. He didn't have to max his skills first.

University Legacy Challenge

"So this means I don't have a life time of pumping gas ahead of me, right?"

Another Saturday rolls around.

University Legacy Challenge

First bloodline, Fifth Generation: Across the back from left to right are Beowulf and Branwen, across the middle from left to right are Ophelia, Martin, Nimue and Kennedy, in front is Mercury.

That night Beowulf managed to earn all his scholarships and he was out the door.

University Legacy Challenge

"Maybe I can meet some ladies off at college."

As soon as I switched to playing college Amalthea went into full aspirational failure. Apparently she had not dealt with her mother's death as nicely as I wished she would have.

University Legacy Challenge

"Oooo, pretty colors."

University Legacy Challenge

"Ooga! Ooga!"

But, soon she was back on her feet and happily interacting with her brothers again over the Greek House's beloved pizza.

University Legacy Challenge

"I'm just saying that if I was Nicole's baby's daddy we'd all be rich!" "Dude, we're already rich."

She wasn't quite over her little aspiration slip though, so I had invite over her hubby to be Jessie for a little romancing and soon she was back to her normal self.

University Legacy Challenge

*Smooch!*

It wasn't long after that I got Beowulf pledged into the Greek House.

University Legacy Challenge

"Dude, where are all the chicks?"

Aeneas had managed to graduate so I sent him home to transfer funds, had him set down elixer bottles and get some new clothes, then sent him on his way.

University Legacy Challenge

"Can I have my computer back? Can I have my computer back? I really want my computer back."

I decided that since fifth generation was starting out so very quietly I would move in some extra teen npcs and townies that I had missed before. Including Derek the paper delivery boy.

University Legacy Challenge

"Now delivering pizza, fresh from campus!"

And, Ivy Copur, the townie.

University Legacy Challenge

"All grown up, finally!"

Points Earned: One point for Othello making 30 Best Friends. One point for Ophelia maxing her skills. Beowulf earned half a point in scholarships.

Points Lost: One point for Amalthea going into aspirational failure.

And, now I'm going to quote something I asked in a thread a long time ago and didn't get any answers for and see what you guys think of it.

In my Windling University Legacy I am playing with two bloodlines by the classic legacy rules. Originally I had read the rules and decided the first bloodline would count for the "heir points" that you can earn at college for earning more then 20k, having 15 friends at graduation and graduating with a 4.0.

Then I read a post by PinStar on the BBS that said, as far as aspirational failure is concerned, only the heir getting a shrink visit would count as a point loss while they are at university. Since the first bloodline is considered the legacy and the second bloodline just a way to rack up additional points and confuse my readers, do does that means that only the first bloodline's heir dropping into aspirational failure should count as a point loss?

Just sanity checking this before I make such a drastic change to my scorecard. Apparently since second bloodline heir is always a family sim, and their parents have to die before first bloodline can move in, they drop into aspirational failure while at university nearly every generation. Poor things. And, I've been counting it as a point loss until I just now realised that I probably shouldn't be. Right?

I think that it means that only the first bloodline's heir's aspiration failure counts, since they are your "real" heirs. You shouldn't count it as a loss if it isn't right, according to the creator himself, so I think you should just give yourself your points back, since Pinstar said it. I would.

Bitsy, I'm sorry to double post, but since you have experience in this matter, I had to ask for an explanation! Last night, I was playing, and one of my male Sims got abducted, I was screaming for joy and stuff, he came back pregnant. Then the next Sim night, after someone moved out (college roomie) I had another male stargaze, and I was in shock when he got abducted as well! I checked today for hacks, but I only downloaded some PJ's from Parsimonious yesterday, nothing else! The other male, Charon also got pregnant, they had their babies already. Why do you think I had them back to back like that, I'm scared t have anyone stargaze, in case it is a hack! Thank you in advance!

You can scan your downloads with Sims2Pack Clean Installer and look for anything highlighted in Red, those are hacks. But, I think this just proves my theory and not only that validates what happens in mine and others game play.

Once you get one abduction on a lot the chances for subsequent ones increase on that lot only. Whether this is by design or due to a bug I don't know.

It took me three generations to get my first abduction, and after that my abduction rate has increased to roughly 16% using my admitably small sample. Pescado actually said something on it to someone else that, like you and I, got a back to back abduction like that. He said it was because the sado-random (his word) chance of the abduction changes after the first abduction and gets stuck at a higher percentage.

You might still go practically a full generation with no abductions, but don't be suprised if you have more of them from here on out. Congratulations on your abductions!

Thanks Bitsy. I checked my downloads folder, it wasn't a hack (I only have the postmortem marriage from MATY) so I guess it's what Pescado said. I sent both of them back out to stargaze, but no luck. Thanks for the info, I was scared!

Wow, I didn't even recognize Kennedy Cox at first. He cleans up nicely!

Furthermore, literacy and life always exchanged influences, so to better understand marriage and love in Renaissance, the most pertinent mean would be to study Shakespeare's plays and comedies. Then the other person gets upset and does the same thing in return. However, a certain link between marriage and love began to appear in the Renaissance period, with the great William Shakespeare, for example. It makes the perfect cup of tea. From then on he started romancing with Soha Ali Khan, his co-star in that movie.
