The Chatham
For those of you that don't recall, since it was a very, very, very long time ago that I started this series, I got a book of classic houses of the twenties that I used to build several houses and then only became really happy with one of them that I subsequently built and shared. I stumbled across the book again (it was in a suitcase and so the only book on vacation with me) and whlie flipping through it fell in love with the houses all over again. So this on-going series will continue for a little while anyway with some new ones so if you liked the first I hope you'll like this one.
The next house in the series is the Chatham. I don't name these houses, don't ask me! I'm afraid I've fallen into a habit of making girly houses, but I have so much fun doing it, I can't help it! The Chatham is an American Colonial home from the 1920's, with a Gothic half timber exterior, the stars on it are from Holiday Stuff, but you don't need that stuff pack, if you install it in a game without the stars will simply be missing. Back in PA several houses (Colonial and otherwise) have these stars on them called Barn Stars. It's sort of become like a good luck symbol and even the house I grew up in when I returned for christmas had one hanging on its side.
The Chatham is a four bedroom, four bathroom, country girl home that was recently renovated to give it a more modern feel. The lot contains my first garage and my first greenhouse. As I said before this house is very girly with a red/white/yellow/green exterior theme and a pink/white/yellow/light green interior theme. Sleeps seven currently, but potential bedrooms are lurking in the basement. I love the staircase in this house, I even worked in a sort of servants stair case that I think worked out well and doesn't look as awkward a I was worried it might translated to Sim World. One last thing before I leave you to it, I love this kitchen! It has to be my most favorite kitchen out of all the one's I've built both for playability and for picture taking!
For giggles the original description used to sell this house plan in the 1920's (that only has loose bearing on the house that I built):
A superb example of the New England Colonial style of architecture retaining all the charm of this superb style. Seven large rooms, bath, nook and sun parlor are included in the floor plans.
