The Villa Redux

Filed under Downloads > Windling Homes on July 09, 2007

Well, this was probably one of the more ambitious houses that I have ever attempted to build. It. Is. Huge! The Villa is a two bedroom, one bathroom home that is lived in by an incredibly rich family in my game. There is a business on their lot which is their main source of income (and it is a fabulous, low maintanence source of income too!). Remember how I've said in the past that Pangea is an old fashioned sort of town? They don't allow drinking there. Which is why the criminal family is the only family with a bar in their basement. This family also has a bar on the premises, in fact it's their buisness! They run a Speakeasy.

For those of you that might now know a Speakeasy was just a bar that was hidden away from the feds during the prohibition. People would be nervous when they ordered drinks, as it was illegal, and the bartender would reassure them and tell them to just "speak easy". Similarly this home has a sidewalk that goes along the side of the house to a stair case that goes up the back to the attic where the Speakeasy is located. Apparently Windlings are alcoholics too because they will make the journey to head to the ticket machine inside and pay to stay there for hours. This particular business became a level ten business in only a week. I just had one spouse man the bar while the other slept and then switched. They brought in half a million simoleons in that amount of time too. My only tips, keep someone at the bar, have someone else sit down at a poker table and invite people to play and then leave and you should be well on your way. Don't worry about selling tickets, they sell themselves!

~*~

To tell you a bit about the family that lives there, Ares was a fourth generation spare heir (one of ten children) from my first legacy and he lives there with his wife Marisa, their daughter Semele (Maura's twentieth grandchild) and her puppy Shandy. Ares is a business man first and foremost and it was at the suggestion of his sister Asia, the criminal mastermind, that he started a Speakeasy. With his sister functioning as supplier and his wife bartending it wasn't long before they were getting loads of business from family and friends alike looking for a drink and to shoot some pool or play some cards, or even just to mellow out to the cool jazz tunes. The business just took off from there!

Minor Lot Annoyances
-When a Sim is ready to leave the business the quickest way to leave is to use the employee staircase leading into the home so they walk through the main hall and out the front door.
-Sometimes Sims that cook dinner decide that instead of eating in the dining room they will carry their food all the way upstairs and eat at the bar (in such a way that the customers can't eat any of it). I'm looking at you, Marisa.

Tips
-The doors that you need to lock to keep the customers out are the front and back doors, the door to the employee staircase leading into the home, and the gate to the area behind the bar. You may not think so at first, but trust me you are going to need that gate to keep them out from behind the bar! It sometimes can get to the point where you can't serve drinks anymore you have so many people crowded behind it.
-The living part of their house takes up only one story with the business taking up all of the upstairs. If you want to expand you can expand the business or the family to a basement that I already have dug out for you. The aspiration rewards room can act as the stair well no matter which part of the house (business or living quarters) you are expanding.

The family is not included. Please let me know if there are any problems with this lot.
