Little Miss Sunshine: Alithiel Iirlanth
Updated: January 25, 2007
Round 1 Rulings
This is the most recent contest I have entered which started in January of 2007. This time I vowed to myself I would try my best to concentrate on artistic merit as well as the beauty of my Sim, and to have a beauty to work with to begin with. So, I went into CAS and created an elf that I named Alithiel, and this entry will log the progress of this contest.
Also if you are wondering where the story line came from it's pretty much a classic story of faerie and is pretty much the story line of every urban fantasy novel out there. It's a bit like War of the Flowers meets the Bordertown series meets just about every novel by Charles DeLint, or at least it will be by the time I'm done with it.
If this entry ever pops up to the top of the page again it means I have updated with either my entry for the next round or the judges ruling on a previous one, scroll to the bottom to find those pictures and rulings.

Little Miss Sunshine at BoolProp.Com
SCORING
The Judges will be scoring on multiple aspects of your entry.
1. Creativity :: Would we have thought of this answer?
2. Photography skills :: This doesn't necessarily mean "are your pictures clear or blurry? This means creativity in angles, poses, etc., however we would like to see as clear a photo as you can get.
3. Originality :: I realize this can tie into "Creativity," but what we're looking for here is if you're being generic and predictable. Don't be afraid to spice things up!
4. Word fluency :: Yes, it reminds me of school too. This category focuses on how well we can follow your storyline and how believablt your character is.
5. Following the instructions :: This may be the most important one of all! For the future rounds I'm trying to allow as much freedom as possible, but we want to know if you're comprehending and following us, too. No tangents
TOTAL :: 25 POINTS
PLUS :: Comments! :: I'm assuming everyone is going to want to know where they stand in the rounds, so this is a place for the judges to leave their comments on what was good, what was not so good, and how you can improve.

My name is Alithiel. I'm an elf who grew up in the forest of NeverNever. My parents died in the War of the Faerie that erupted when the Council wished to bring down the veil that seperated our world from the world of the Real.
I was taken in by my uncle and his girlfriend who are leaving the forest and are getting ready to embark out on the world of the Real, the world of the humans. They believe there is nothing for the young now in Faerie and wish to start a new life in Bordertown, the place between our two worlds, where neither magic nor technology work quite right and where elves and humans meet.
My uncle's girlfriend Relkaea wants me to enter this contest so that I can have a chance to meet other girls my age who are human and perhaps learn a bit more about this world of the Real and what might be my place in it.
I've always been up for an adventure and this looks to be truly like nothing I've ever tried before. How exciting!
Judges' Comments
Pros
"Another very unique entry, and I like it! I really like how you had your LMS from a completely different world and race, and yet still tied her in with all the 'human' girls!"
"It was so cool to see an elf like this and to hear about her life before LMS. Very nice!"
"I love that she's an Elf! I appreciate the picture editting as well. Very beautiful."
"Awesome model, pictures, and story."
Cons
"I'm not entirely sure about the dress. I like the colours, but some of the edges are a little painted."
Things you can work on
"next time try to write a little more? It was somewhat short."
"Perhaps some shots around buildings? For the contrast, as this round we saw quite a lot of her outside."

My name is Tylesh Iirlanth and I'm Alithiel's uncle. After the devestation of the War I knew it was past time to leave Faerie and the forest of NeverNever. My neice never really knew her parents as they were too heavily involved in politics to visit much. So she just stayed with me here in the forest. When they died she tried to hide her tears from me, but I knew. She's a brave girl, my Alithiel.
I think I might have pushed things though when I told her it was time to leave the forest. She put on a brave face, but I knew she was in love with NeverNever and as much of an adventure as the Borderlands offered, it would never be the same as the wonder of the forest. At that moment I knew that Alithiel was upset with me for making her leave, I just hoped she could realize that I was really doing this for her own good.
Bordertown was a bit of a shock, for all of us. It was the first time Relkaea and I had ever seen technology such as TVs and radios and motorcycles, though we had heard of some of it. For little Alithiel it was the first time she had ever seen a building, in NeverNever there was no need, but here the weather changes so rapidly and the people are not always as kind as the elves back home, so people create these constructs to protect themselves and provide shelter.
Relkaea was brilliant with Alithiel though it all and really smoothed the way. She was the one that got her involved in this wonderful beauty competition to learn about and appreciate humans and the world of the Real. When Alithiel went out on our balcony the first thing she noticed was, "There's no plants, no grass, no trees..." Relkaea stepped up and started showing her the hidden beauty that can be found in a city. When I started to see that look of wonder appear on Alithiel's face, I knew that Relkaea had gotten through to her. I'm glad those two are becoming so close.
I thought everything was going fine. We had settled into our apartment and Alithiel had begun to make friends with the local children. How wrong I was. I found her one day curled up in a closet crying.* My poor, brave Alithiel. She wanted to go home. War was brewing though, and I knew it wouldn't be safe.
She couldn't return to the magical forest of NeverNever, but we could create some of our own magic for her. Relkaea and I play instruments that weave magical spells in the forest. Here in Bordertown they work only when the wind is right. We were blessed that day. Relkaea and I took Alithiel up to the roof of our apartment and preformed for hours while she danced, feeling the rhythym with her feet and running her fingers through the magic in the air. I think this is easily her favorite thing about being an Iirlanth, only our family could every rend magic from music so effortlessly.
She seemed much more at peace after that, but I could still see that she missed the forest. Together with a few local elves and humans we started to work on a little suprise for her. Combining technology and magic we created an enviroment that would be stable even in the uncertain waters of the Borderlands. We could not take Alithiel back to the forest, but we could bring some of the forest to her.
Even Alithiel could not believe it, not until she had seen it. Bushes and grass and trees from the world of the Faerie combined with lighting and fertilizer and sprinkler systems from the world of the Real. Alithiel kept saying over and over, "I can't believe it... I just can't believe it!" But there it was. On the border where magic and technology meet, anything is possible.
*I know that when I was little I would light candles in my closet and cry when I was upset, I knew other little girls that did this too. This doesn't make it a good idea! Asphyxiation and fire hazards are bad, m'kay? Don't try this at home! No little girls, elven or other wise, were harmed in the taking of this picture, merely boolproped.

She's really pretty, I see your also using the Pixie skins by Enalya! I love them, they're so detailed. Did you win? Or is it still going on?

Haven't won, not even sure I will, there are some really pretty girls in this competition! It is still ongoing, this round doesn't end until the 19th and who knows how many there will be after that, or what the judges will think of my girl in this one. Normally I don't make it past the third or fourth round in a competition, but I'm excited about this one. :)
I love Enyala skin tones! I've been thinking (after this legacy story is done) I might do a Royal Kingdom Challenge with Sims wearing the four Pixie skins in place of the four default skin tones.

Bitsy--you're back! Hooray! She is a really cute girl, and Enayla's skins are very nice for RK challenges and otherwise fantasy oriented things. They're so shiny and painting-like. Though the shiny is a bit... er, odd, on males, so I have blushes made to counter that.
Here's hoping you win!
