The Greek House Redux

Filed under Downloads > Windling Homes on September 11, 2006

The Greek House (Fruhm Urele Nagard) is probably one of my more unique Windling Homes in that it is designed completely for playability. And, not just any playability, my playability which will probably make it unplayable to most players. This is why I offer two versions of my house so that you can use the shell to design a Greek House for the way you play college. It already has several features that are designed to aid college play. I also kept it relatively cheap at 50k so college students from a particular family should be able to afford it within a generation or two. Also the entire house can be played from the back from a single camera angle. This house has been extensively play tested, as well!

The Greek House

First off, the lot is designed for college students, obviously. So there are bubble blowers in prominence, there is a study with couches and bookshelves right by the door that pizza is delivered to (and plenty of coffee tables to lay pizzas on). There is a room with plenty of dorm tables to lay homework on, a computer room, an energizer room, a mini-skills room, a common patio for parties with a keg, a bon fire pit, buffet table, seating and, of course, a band set up.

There is also a very extensive garden. I have a daily gardener hack installed that helps take care of this, but before that I was getting by really well on having pledges take care of it. You can sell some of the bushes and flowers and create more patio space if you want, or leave it and just keep the pledges busy with it. Either way works.

That's where things diverge from standard playing style to my playing style. I have public restrooms on the first and second floor made up of public showers and public toilets (four of each on the second floor, three of each on the first). The upstairs bedroom is one bedroom with enough beds for seven Sims, and the common area upstairs is nearly entirely taken up with easels as my Sims spend most of their spare time painting.

Since my Sims work in different schedules they don't all use the beds at the same time so I work them in a rotation, there are no assigned beds. I also have my college Sims live off of pizza. My Greek House members bring home pizzas on a fairly steady stream, I usually have them order pizza only every once in a while and they can certaintly afford it with all the painting that is going on. This also means: there is no kitchen.

I know some of you are thinking, I can't play like that! Well I have two versions of this Greek House for that reason. My version the way it is, and a second version with a basement that is a little larger than the first floor as it extends under the wrap around porch. The basement is completely unfurnished so you can add in a kitchen, extra bedrooms and bathrooms, counterfeit machines, hot tubs, and whatever else is vital to your college experience.

Wow, Bitsy! That looks awesome! Very well thought-out. I've never tried playing a Greek House without a kitchen, but they seem to bring pizza back from campus so often that it makes sense. If I need a Greek House in in the future, I will be downloading this one!
