Cornelius Fielding Dies by Cow Plant

Filed under University Legacy Challenge > 3rd Generation on September 15, 2006

I admit it, I got a little cocky. After successfully earning a point in scholarships due to Evander's timely abduction, I thought I would do the same for Vulcan by having him earn the orphan's scholarship. The incentive of the extra half a point was finally enough to allow me to purposely kill a Sim, for good, for the very first time.

University Legacy Challenge

"Wow, that cake looks good and all, but I'm pretty sure that this fence didn't have a gate for a reason..."

Unfortunately Cornelius' untimely death did not earn me the half point in scholarships. Vulcan's other parent, the Pollination Technician, still lived. And, even though Vulcan got no real benefit out ot it, it was enough for the college to not give him any sort of bonus for not having any parental figures on this planet.

University Legacy Challenge

"He was still tasty though!"

Soon Elissa became a teen and began the process of earning those last few scholarships for college. I was at the point that Sims born into the family earned all but the logic scholarship in skill scholarships, and that last one was earned by stargazing every night while they were teens. My best time so far has been getting a born on lot Sim out of the house and to college with half a point in scholarships in four days once they become teens.

University Legacy Challenge

"Hitting puberty made me realize money really is everything."

Unfortunately Elissa was not one of those Sims that had all the skill scholarships when she became a teen. She needed one more creativity skill point. So I got her started on that right away. It led to a very interesting bug where she was covered in bolts of electricity not just when she lied, but all the time. A shower ended up fixing it.

University Legacy Challenge

"Electricity goes with everything."

That night I also finally kicked Evander out to college.

University Legacy Challenge

"Quick, before Mom and Dad mysteriously wander into a pen with a cow plant!"

Don't worry I wasn't planning on offing Minerva and Gaston. They had finally become elders and I was planning on having them around for a good long time.

University Legacy Challenge

"Oh no, I smell pancakes again, do we have to have those every morning?"

University Legacy Challenge

"They're flying flapjacks shaped like llamas, honey! Vooo breakfast!"

You are never too old for school spirit. Though the ghosts might not appreciate the impromptu school cheers in the kitchen at four in the morning.

University Legacy Challenge

"No more llama pankcakes! How about Frosted Flakes instead? They're grrrrreat!"

Cornelius began haunting that night. He made a bee-line for the cowplants where he milled around uselessly for a bit before going off and sulking in other parts of the lot.

University Legacy Challenge

"Where's that punk cow plant? I'll show him where he can shove that cake of his."

In case some of you didn't already know, I usually play with free will off. I get my fill of autonomoty playing my I'm Surrounded by Idiots family, and I am already well aware that in the grand scheme of things, Sims are much better off under my control then under their own. I keep their needs up too high, so when left to their own devices all they do is get into trouble. This also means that on the few rare occasions that I forget about a Sim for a moment or two, they spend their time, either shifting their weight from one foot to another, standing with their arms crossed or hands on their hips, or looking cute.

University Legacy Challenge

"I'll be the prettiest llama at the ball!"

Giving up on getting that last half point in scholarships I sent Vulcan off to college with only half a point in scholarships. He seemed pretty pleased to go. Though it did mean I had to sit through another heart breaking video of a Sim transitioning to young adult with no parent beside them. The Pollination Technician is such a dead beat dad.

University Legacy Challenge

"Maybe I'll meet some of Dad's old friends at college. Cool!"

I booted into the greek lot at college just in time to watch Mercury wake up from another nightmare. His slow limping walk and low aspiration really worked against him at college. He had very low needs most of the time and so ended up having lots of nightmares. Most of them about one or the other of his twenty nieces and nephews.

University Legacy Challenge

"Great galloping nooboos! I hope I don't have to babysit!"

Don't worry Mercury you'll end up baby sitting well over twenty Sims by the time I'm done with you, but it won't be those particular twenty.

While at a community lot getting outfitted in new clothes Evander, Vulcan and even Elissa who had just recently been admitted to college, met up with Padma Cloudkicker a dormie that Gemini had previously pledged into the Greek House. So it was easy to get all three kids to meet her so I could have her pledge them later.

University Legacy Challenge

"Hey you're cool, let's head over to F.U.N. and grab a pizza together, what do you say?"

I also ended up having Padma pledge another dormie named Lorina Crane, who was also a knowledge Sim.

University Legacy Challenge

"I like pizza as much as the next college student, but for breakfast, lunch and dinner? It's a bit much, you know?"

Since both Evander and Vulcan were popularity Sims I had them spend most of their college years on their cell phones. I was planning on going for both of their impossible wants. The dragging fun and social from being on a greek lot helped a lot with that.

University Legacy Challenge

"Can you hear me now? Good!"

Once Mercury graduated from college I sent him out to the cow plant. The fourth that I had managed to acquire.

University Legacy Challenge

"You know, I'm pretty sure I pulled a stupid move like this before."

I enjoy symmetry and I have ultimate plans for all of these cow plants, not just as a saftey back up for my family sims, but also as decorations in the courtyard I'm planning on designing out front. That won't be for quite awhile yet.

University Legacy Challenge

"Yuck, this ones been eaten before. Nasty."

I had Minerva make a call to the Grim Reaper to bring Mercury back.

University Legacy Challenge

"I hope he doesn't mind if I call collect."

But, I deliberately only paid half price. It would mean that he lost three skill points in each skill but it was ultimately worth it.

University Legacy Challenge

"Awesome! I have all of my fingers and all of my toes!"

Doing so inverted his personality. So he went from being a sloppy, shy, lazy, serious and grouchy zombie, to being the complete opposite. He was now neat, outgoing, active, playful and nice, whether he wanted to be or not.

University Legacy Challenge

"Talk about a paradigm shift."

Points Earned: 1 point in scholarships (Elissa, Vulcan). 1 point for new ghost type, Green (Cornelius).

Points Lost: 1 point for college penalty (Atlas, Cornelius, Embla, Lorelei, Odin) Yeah I know, I got behind on this.

Holy cats, Bitsy -- how do you keep up with all of those crazy Sims?? And without free will on?? You amaze me. You are definitely an expert at this game, with how you've mastered the Legacy and ISBI challenges. Kudos to you!! I can't imagine what you're going to do with those cowplants, but I look forward to seeing it!

I absolutely love this Legacy, and your sims look so real. Where did you get there so life like looking skin from anyway?

Posted by: Laura on September 20, 2006 04:59 PM

You know, I think it's funny how Elissa is a "Potenial heir" and Vulcan is an "Alien" I mean, he is. But it's still funny.

I got my skins from helaene. But, I'm pretty sure I got the default replacements from MTS2, just search on there for helaene default replacements.

Yeah, I know I had to choose what to put for Aliens a long time ago and have just decided to be consistent with it ever since. Vulcan is not part of the bloodline at all, so I figure for him it's doubly ok that he is just an "Alien". Otherwise he would have to be a "Roomie's Kid" or something like that, and that just starts to get silly. :)

I was just wondering, did you have to have alot of sims cheat on their spouses to get Shea and Warren those immpossible wants?

Posted by: Sara on October 17, 2006 12:34 PM

Yeah, unfortunately I did. Now, for the most part, any house I go into the kids burst into tears whenever they see their parents kiss each other. Which doesn't make much sense as the people they cheated with are long dead. I figure I will install a Romance mod once my legacy is finished so that my satellite houses are at least playable again.

Yeah, I thought so. you have practicly married off all the townies so there must be some overlap between lovers.

Posted by: Sara on October 19, 2006 04:46 PM

So....the potenial heirs, which do you like better? Evander or Elissa,
