Zeus Windling Grows Up

Filed under University Legacy Challenge > 1st Generation on March 07, 2006

(Sorry for the low-quality images in the post. Don't worry the images will improve soon, I hadn't realized it was set on low quality until after I had booted out of the game.)

Well, after many, many false starts I am finally confident that I can complete the University Legacy Challenge. I had a heck of a time building them an intermediate home, or putting them in any home at all, due to some entertaining/frustrating bugs that included: the house floating in what looked like sky, my Sims becoming silhouettes so it looked like I was directing a Chinese puppet show, and the roofs of the houses in my neighborhood dancing from one lot to another.

When I finally managed to build them a house that wasn't bugged, I ended up deleteing a terrain paint that I didn't like, after using it (and hitting undo) on the lot. So now I can't package it, ever. Lovely. But, it was only until Zeus went to college, so I wasn't overly concerned.

Finally I could play my Windlings again!

University Legacy Challenge

With only one day left to live I had Lee spend the day profitably and had him get Echo pregnant again right away. Poor girl deserved it after all I put her through. She wanted another baby and this would most likely be her last chance to get one.

Two days passed. Which I guess makes sense because when you get the one day pop-up for birthdays you have the rest of that day and the following day left before you have to age transition. In the mean time Echo entered her second trimester and I had Lee help baby Zeus grow up.

University Legacy Challenge

Yes, Kimberly and Gretchen were left behind at Windling Gables. I had just gotten Nightlife for Christmas and at some point I would like to go back and take the urns from Windling Gables and put them in a community graveyard. To do that I needed placeholders in the old legacy lot and Echo's sisters worked quite nicely to that end.

Anyway, Zeus became a toddler!

University Legacy Challenge

Here he is after his encounter with the toddler mirror:

University Legacy Challenge

That night Lee passed away. It was quite devestating for Echo. Yeah, so devestating that she simultaneously spun up a want to ressurect Lee and to fall in love. I guess she's letting me know that she is open to bringing the old guy back or moving on to a new one, as long as she gets to pop out more kids. Ugh, Family Sims!

University Legacy Challenge

So the only adults left at the new temporary Windling Gables was grandpa Alec, who still had quite a few years left in him, and Echo, now a widower and single mother to two darling boys. She had given birth to Minos, a boy with her skin tone, brown hair and grey eyes just that morning.

University Legacy Challenge

Soon it was time for baby Minos to grow into a toddler as well.

University Legacy Challenge

He was a very cute toddler, cuter then his brother Zeus actually. They were both toddler for a time because I was stretching Zeus' toddler stage to the limit trying to get as many scholarships as possible. Here Echo tries to boost her aspiration so that she can be in platinum before heading off to work, I had her switch career tracks to the culinary career as her life time want is to reach the top of it.

University Legacy Challenge

Zeus was able to earn the Charisma and Creativity scholarships through a diet of smart milk, and by only being potty trained (which he didn't care for but made things easy for me) and being taught to talk on the day he was due to grow up that way he would grow up well. In order to get that want spun up I had to have him be read to, Alec was more then happy to indulge him.

University Legacy Challenge

Of course the night Zeus finally became a child his father Lee began to haunt. I had kinda forgotten to build a mosuleum and actually there wasn't really room for one anyway so I decided to just put up with the ghost.

University Legacy Challenge

I thought it was really sweet that he made a bee line for the nursery and stopped just before Minos' crib. Coincidence?

University Legacy Challenge

In spite of his personality Zeus was a very sweet child. He had a very close relationship with his mother, and usually Sims I control (unless they are married) don't have a very close relationship to each other at all. The exception being Echo's sisters and mother Kimberly, Gretchen, Abbey, and Danae. I had them on a shared meal schedule which kept their relationship scores in the high 90's.

University Legacy Challenge

Zeus learned the basics of childhood including how to study and also went on to earn several skill based scholarships. I'm pretty sure he had earned nearly all of them before even becoming a teen.

University Legacy Challenge

I also had him start working on his friend base. I admit it, I have a hack installed that increases the chances of player Sims being brought home from school and work over townies. I was sick of Marsha Bruenig and co and was ready to see some of my Sims for once. I have 30+ Windling children available to be brought home from school, and yet it was only once every other generation that I might get to see one. I wasn't disappointed. Zeus brought home Artemis on his third day of school. I was pleased as punch. And, of course, the novelty of having the tenth generation heir meet Gaia's great-grandaughter from the branch of the family that still carried Gaia's silver eyes, well, it made it worth the guilt of having a game play affecting hack installed.

University Legacy Challenge

Minos had grown into a child that day, here he finally gives up on interacting with Artemis and left to do his own thing. Sorry Minos it's heir business, I'm sure you'll understand.

University Legacy Challenge

The family sits down to lunch, Alec's life is coming to a close so I'm trying to squeeze in some socialize time so the family can be left with some decent money when he moves on. Having Echo, Alec, Lee, and Zeus move out in such a manner as to leave Windling Gables in tact meant that they didn't have nearly as much money as they used to. They may look rich, but they really aren't. Not anymore.

University Legacy Challenge

Here Lindsay Windling, in a default dress because I lost her pinafore in the move from laptop to computer, is chatted up by Zeus. Aside from his family Zeus managed to make five friends before leaving for college, unfortunately he had a lot of work to do once he got to college.

University Legacy Challenge

Not long after Alec passed away the family finally had decent money in the coffers so I didn't mind having Zeus, now a teen, blow §100 on Amy Jones, the Windling family's newspaper girl since first generation. She has walked by Windling Gables every day of the original legacy challenge, so since she is finally eligible to be married into the family, I chose her to be the first uni-legacy spouse.

I have to admit I also admired the symmetry of it. Two Leos, a Knowledge Sim and a Popularity Sim, founded my last legacy, and here I go starting out with the same formula for this one.

University Legacy Challenge

Now that Zeus is a teen, and a Knowledge Sim, I have him spend his time exclusively working on scholarships amd his impossible want. Here he and his mother boogie down to earn the fancy footwork scholarship. I'm hoping to have Zeus earn as much money as possible, soon he will be off to college and the Windling fortune will be completely gone. Time to start all over again.

Wow -- Amy turns out fantastically gorgeous. And where did you get her hair? She's quite stunning! Yay for more Windlings! I've been following them since their fifth generation, so it's great to see it go on. :)

Love all the Victorian clothes and Echo and Zeus dancing to the phonograph. :-) The Windlings have always been a cool and unique Legacy -- here's to Zeus continuing the tradition!
