Jordan Datlow Is Orphaned (But Still Inherits the Torch)

Filed under I'm Surrounded By Idiots > 4th Generation on December 28, 2005

The fact that all three non-controllable Sims kept sleeping in the upstairs double bed was driving me crazy. I am willing to let my Sims wet themselves, start fires, harrass my toddlers, fight with the neighbors (and each other) and even slip to near death without intervention. But, having to constantly shoo teens and children out of the upstairs double bed so that Fatima and her wife could have some "alone time" was really touching a nerve with me for some reason and trying my patience. I ended up selling the double bed (again) forcing all three of them to actually start to use the downstairs beds, and about time too.

As you can see, Jamal had become a teen and I had rolled Romance. Why must there be one Romance Sim in every generation? He and Jordan are leaving for school while their mother Hippolyta sees them off. I think she was queing up interactions with them and so stalked them all the way to the door.

Unfortunately Hippolyta couldn't handle being left to her own devices until the kids came home from school, she would just continually complain about low social, so I bought them a bed only for when they wanted to do woohoo, Fatima appreciated having a quick way to up her social as she too had age transitioned and was now into the perpetual low social/low bladder stage of a Sim's life as well. I then sold it again immediately afterwards.

Here, little Jordan comes home from school on his last day as a child. Jordan and Jamal were, unfortunately, clones of one another so, after Jamal's childhood, Jordan's was fairly unremarkable.

When Jordan age transitioned that night I rolled Knowledge. Yay! At least it would be easy to keep his aspiration up, unlike Jamal who had a rather rough teenhood, as all my Romance Sims seem to.

Though he did manage to become friends with one Miss Belle Robin, which helped his aspiration a little early on. Drizella's curse lives on though and he still tried to Serenade her when I influenced him to flirt. Ugh.

Here the brothers jam out to the radio. That fancy foot-work scholarship sure is easy to earn.

I also made sure to have Fatima work with Jordan to earn his other scholarships as well. He had earned nearly all of the skill-based ones before he inherited the torch, which I thought was pretty cool.

The trash can must have been tipped over without my noticing. I'm not sure if a townie did it or if Jamal did. Jordan stayed in Gold or Platinum through most of his teenhood. Hippolyta, instead of randomly stomping on the bugs, actually sprayed them with bug spray, which I was impressed to see.

Dancing works just as well as woohoo, if not as quickly to raise social. So Hippolyta and Fatima spent a lot of their elderhood grooving to the radio. Somtimes buying a bed was just too much of a hassle. And, yes, Hippolyta did start letting herself go about halfway through her elderhood. Anyone who makes any cracks about hippos gets a very slow hand clap from me, alright?

I had Hippolyta acheive her lifetime want around that time and so it was really easy for her to get promoted those last few levels and reach the top of her career, from the newspaper, which I was impressed with. Fatima followed her a few days later after finally acheiving her lifetime want as well.

Of, course this meant that the boys were left to their own devices that day. Jamal went to bed but then got right back up go outside and kick over the trash can. Neither boy took to stomping on bugs though, which was good.

Jamal headed back inside to shower and then the boys began to dance while ignoring the friend from school. Poor townies are always getting ignored.

Here Jordan jumps on the couch, first time in this challenge that anyone has done so.

Jamal apparently has inherited some of that Karimah-style autonomoty. He cleans up the trash from the trash can that he just kicked over (in bare feet too, ouch) while Jordan and Hippolyta chat in the living room.

Jamal grew up and immediately went into aspirational failure, poor guy. I ended up moving him out right away which proved to be a huge mistake.

That night Hippolyta passed on. I think that she grew up either in very low green or in the red so it was no suprise to me that her elderhood was so short.

I'm Surrounded By Idiots

The death stressed out Jordan so much that when he came home from school he passed out. I had Fatima, after she came in to worry over him, turn on the radio so that he would find a proper bed.

That night I got the two-day pop-up so I woke Jordan up and had him hop in the energizer. I had seen how close Fatima's bar was to the end of her life and I wanted to get Jordan out of the house asap.

I'm Surrounded By Idiots

I was too late. The very next day death came for Fatima leaving Jordan an orphan and all alone in the Datlow household.

When I had Jordan go to college I got a weird pop-up asking me about reseting the lot or going to the neighborhood. So I hopped on to my husbands computer to look it up on the BBS. In that time the game auto popped me out to the neighborhood without saving which pissed me off. That set me back about a week. Does anyone know what that pop-up means or what I'm supposed to do when it comes up? The only thing that happened differently that time was that Jamal grew up in the bedroom at the same time that Hippolyta was passing away which just made the room total chaos.

I also made sure that Jamal stuck around this time to see his little brother off to college. He was still orphaned, but at least he now had someone to come home to. The college video actually tugged on my heart strings a bit as I saw Jordan go off to college with no hug and no one to wave to. *sniffs* He grew into studded leather too, so I guess he thinks he's tough now. My poor little orphaned heirling.
