Apologies
Sorry I haven't been updating a lot recently. I have finished the Legacy Challenge and since then have gotten a new computer and installed and am playing University. I am only two or three posts from the end of telling the Windling story, and it isn't boring by any means, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
I am working on building the Windling's a new place, and I hate building so I'm pacing myself with it. I probably should have just downloaded them a mansion or something until it was time to send the heir to college.
I started and then scrapped a Prosperity neighborhood. I had forgotten to whipe the townies to generate new ones so it was all the same people I have been dealing with since last Janurary. And, to me, the Prosperity Challenge was really just the Legacy Challenge in stereo. You do the same things for the same people in the same ways depending on age and aspiration. I figure the randomness will die out after first generation, and then what?
I then began an I'm Surrounded by Idiots! Challenge. That is a lot of fun! I took tons of pictures totally planning to blog about this new family, only to find out that all the pictures were low quality and small because settings go by neighborhood and are not global and reset to crappy by default. This completely bummed me out. I think I might blog about them anyway, it's only for two generations that the pics suck.
The I'm Surrounded by Idiots! family is in a new neighborhood that I actually remembered to whipe. I also figured out how to edit the files from which townies names are pulled and re-wrote the file completely. Just to give you a taste, when I sent my founder to college some of her classmates were named: Audrey Raven, Clio Empathy, Cronus Child, Daisy Willow, Epona Byron, Esmeralda Blood, Flora Orchard, Francisca Learned, Galahad Hood, Gerturde Wren, Mariana Tremaine, Nathaniel Yearling, Parthenia Snodgrass and Zephyr Lightfoot. The mascot was named Bran Bell and the rival mascot was named Selena Charming. Her professors were named things like Prof. Odysseus Godolphin, Prof. Orpheus Fay and Prof. Mercury Sterling (no kidding). First and last names still get repeated a bit, but not beyond reason, in my opinion, and it's still a work in progress for me. I'm constantly scribbling down new names I plan to add later.
So, I'm still alive, I just wanted to finish telling the Windling's story before I began writing my adventures in University. Good luck nanowrimo people, I hope you meet your goals, and I hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving.

It sounds like you're really having fun with your "I'm Surrounded by Idiots!" challenge. I look forward to reading about it :D

Hey Bitsy, I love those names; they sound like they could be wizards from the Harry Potter books. ;-) How did you rewrite that file? And can you only do it for a wiped neighborhood? How does it work?
