Cassidy Windling's Journal
The mosuleum at Windling Gables is the coolest place ever. I try and go out there as often as possible. I discovered it on my own my first week of living here, while I was pregnant with Maia. Finding a ghost out there and actually having it frighten me really perked me up and I felt much better about heading back to the north wing to study my heart out.
Imagine my suprise when I found out that my husband Agenor's mother Demi likes going out there as well. That woman is definitely something else. She is hard-headed, stubborn, set in her ways and insistent on getting what she wants out of life. Demi goes after her pursuit of knowledge whole heartedly. I can definitely see a lot of Demi in Agenor, though a lot of that stubborness has been tempered with a good dose of patience from his father Poseidon, but I'm not stupid enough to let either of them know that.

Ever since Poseidon passed on, Demi had been really down and despressed. It's just us and her, oh and our daughter Maia, and Agenor's brother Warren. When she overheard :Ageno:r and I talking about having another child, I noticed that she perked up quite a bit. I spent the pregnancy meditating in the nursery, after specifically entrusting Maia's care to Demi. Agenor, I love you babe, but when you start working on a novel, you don't want to break for anything. I ultimately gave birth to another baby girl. She has our brown hair, but her grandfather Poseidon's grey eyes, we named her Danae.

Demi has mellowed in her old age, but I'm afraid the rift between her and her son is to great for either of them to overcome in the little time that she has left to her. So, Demi has latched onto these two grandchildren of hers, instead. I wish I had a grandmother who was nearly as attentive. Danae has finally reached school age. Rather then concentrate on school work she seems to be more interested in playing with her father Agenor, telling secrets to her sister Maia, or playing tricks on her Uncle Warren. Demi seems to particularly approve of that last one, for whever reason.

Maia, to no one's suprise, has chosen to follow her grandmother and myself on the path of knowledge. Demi seemed particularly touched by this, though I notice her sometimes muttering darkly about Agenor's sister Persephone. I wonder what brought that on? Perhaps a phone call to Great Uncle Apollo is in order. He always seems to be up on the latest gossip about everyone.

The ghost of Agenor's father, Poseidon has begun haunting. After mourning his death in the dining hall, he floated down to the nursery of all places and began playing with the toddler toys. After awhile he grew bored of this and floated off to the mosuleum, hopefully for good.
Game Play Note: Gah! Scary bug alert! My game froze after taking this picture and when I booted back into the lot Poseidon was now a selectable character. He had a weird action queued up, Death Simulation /Death By Flies. Anyway, I booted out and booted back in and he was still there. I wish I had taken a picture, the ghost was actually sitting curled up on the floor with one hand stretched out to play the notes on the xylophone. I ended up having to use SimPE to delete Poseidon's character file and then my game returned to normal. Poseidon still haunts though because the ghost is attached to the urn not to the character file, whew!

After an almost too short childhood, little Danae has become a teenager. She has chosen the path of family, just as her grandfather Poseidon had done before her. After a short but intense conference with my husband Agenor, and a longer more stressful one with our daughter Maia we determined that Danae would be the heir to Windling Gables. I'm not sure who was more suprised Demi, for once again choosing the heir who hadn't chosen knowledge, or Danae herself for being chosen at all. Especially considering that she was the younger child. Agenor could definitely relate, and I believe he spoke with her privately, to both of their benefits.

A new maid has begun working at Windling Gables. I am not sure what happened to Yvette, after all she has, against all logic, been working at Windling Gables since Third Generation, if the Windling Chronicles are at all to be believed. Perhaps things went sour after her little daliance with Great Great Uncle Shea. Or, more likely, Warren has begun putting the moves on her and she is not interested in having her heart broken twice by a Windling man. I don't blame her. His name is Alec. And, I have been noticing more and more then little Danae seems to have a little crush on Mr. Squeaky Clean. Well, we will just have to see how things work out. He certaintly seemed to appreciate the §100 tip. I know I did when Agenor tried that same move on me when he was a teenager.

Demi passed away last night. On the same night that her youngest grandchild, Danae, finally grew into a full fledged adult. Though she left nothing but a pittance for her son Agenor, she left my children and I plenty of money to add to the Windling fortune. Though I wonder, where did she keep it all? None the less, Danae, now an adult has properly inherited the Windling household, which I'm sure is a bit of a relief to my husband who can now work on his novels uninterrupted. Her first act as the new heir was, and I still find this hard to belive, to call an adoption agency.

Game Play Note: And that, my friends, is where I have been forced to stop playing. My game freezes without fail at precisely 3AM no matter what I do. Which is nerve racking because that is precisley seven Sim hours from the arrival of ninth generation. So, I am waiting on a new computer, that actually has the specs to run the game, and am going to attempt to install the Sims 2, clean up and install my custom content, transfer my neighborhood, and then troubleshoot my legacy lot. I am confident that it is not lost. At the absolute worst I can move them to a fresh lot for the last full generation and the birth of the tenth one, though I am afraid I will miss the ghosts terribly.
My posts will not stop in the interim. I still have finds to post, as well as an up-to-date scorecard, I can also boot in long enough to give a tour of Windling Gables, but only if people are interested. I also have some WordPress templates I have been working on that are tailored for Sims 2 Blogs that I would be interested in offering for download. As well as custom content that I have created and am willing to try and post, at the least. I have also been working on a "Guide to The Original Legacy Challenge" with tips and tricks that should be up in the next few days. So, even though I am out of update material until the game clock ticks past 3AM, I will still be posting. A girl has to have some Sims-related fun in her day!
Thanks for sticking with me.

I'm amazed that your lot made it to the 8th generation without any major bugs--that is an accomplishment! Mine bit the dust in generation 3.
I'd love to see your custom content. I'm such a sucker for downloads.

Wow Bitsy, I'm so sorry to hear about the 3AM issue, I hope you get the new computer soon so you can continue to play. I have a computer issue as well so I know how annoying it is not to be able to play the game whenever you want. However, in the meantime, I do look forward to all the things you mentioned. I'd love a house tour and I'd also love to see the templates and downloads you've created. :)

I second wanting to see your templates and custom content. And the house tour. Wow, you've been busy. :-)
That bug sounds like a huge pain, and I truly hope you can get your family going again when you get the new computer.

Forgot to add: loved reading this update from Cassidy's point of view. I really like your writing style. And the pop-ups for each Sim are sooo helpful in trying to keep track of everyone!

Wow I can't belive you stuck with the same family for 8 generations! I got to the 5th and then I couldn't get my sim to marry before she died and her adopted kid died in a fire earlier that day.
