Wedding and a Funeral
Things are crawling at Windling Gables, and I don't just mean game speed. I never realized how interminable the teenage years are. I just want Aphrodite to grow up already and get started on that third generation!
Gotta love that bugged couch. It is just so much fun having four sims and only one place to sit in the living room...
That wasn't a problem for too long as both Pao and Gaia had steadily worked their way up their respective career ladders and now had a limo picking them up for work. Something I thought was very cool and of course helped in replacing the couch and finishing off the upstairs. The Shack is now a two story, three bedroom home with living room, kitchen, two bathrooms, a common skills room, and a nursery.
That's what I love about this Challenge. Combine it with the in-game camera, and a blog, you can get a visual representation of just how far each generation takes you.
After Pao became an elder and got another promotion I even had enough to remodel the kitchen.
"It's boys against girls, 'Dite, always remember that."
Then, finally, Gaia made it to the top of the Science career and got the position of Mad Scientist, meaning she worked odd hours coming home at 2AM and the like. Here is her leaving for work and not looking very happy about it.
That turkey meal seemed to have done Cronus in as he had a bit of weight problem after that. I couldn't quite get him to lose all the weight before his birthday, one which I remembered, and one that went off without a hitch.
For both Aphrodite and Cronus I rolled Popularity so now three out of my four Sims are Popularity Sims and it is driving me absolutely mad. Thank goodness I have Gaia to keep me sane with her simple gain-a-skill-point wants. Everyone else wants to be friends with odd and obscure people that are never home and the phone is constantly ringing off the hook with Sims bagging on my family for not giving them a call in the last five minutes. Well, maybe that is five minutes my time, but still.
It is also exceptionally odd that there is this annoying girl named Marsha that is continually calling my Elder Gaia even though she is friends with Pao, Aphrodite, and Cronus and has a relationship of nearly zero with Gaia. Gaia is not interested in giving you the time of day little girl, go away.
I honestly think Gaia and Pao have had woohoo more often since they have become Elders then in all of their time as Adults. Hey, it's an easy way to keep them both in Platinum. Because of the constant talk then play then backrub then kiss then makeout then woohoo cycle that is going on both of my Elders spend most of their time waltzing around Windling Gables in their underwear. After attempting to stomp some decorum into them I finally gave up. Obviously I was the only one that was having issue with it.
The other cute thing about Elders is that they immediately start interacting romantically as soon as they clap eyes on each other. Actually I thought this was a bit bittersweet as I realized that Gaia hadn't lept into Pao's arms like that since they got married.
Aphrodite is your typical teen she enjoys goofing off, she got her first kiss, she has a good solid set of seven best friends, and so on. I really wish she would grow up though. Gaia's age meter continues to grow smaller and no one is of an age to bring in the third generation yet. Though I suppose with Cronus around there isn't too much to worry about.
In preperation for her upcoming adulthood I even have her working on a boy toy of her own. A Mr. Stephan something-or-other, soon to be Windling anyway, also known as the Grocery Delivery man.
Finally, it was time for Aphrodite to become an Adult. As soon as she grew up, sans cake since it has given me nothing but trouble, I had her call over her boy-toy. Things were coming to a close for Gaia and I had been neglecting the much younger Pao while meeting Gaia's wants and now his aspiration is a low green. This is bad as he now fears Gaia's death. He wants a family member to get engaged, a family member to get married, to get a grandchild and to be best friends with some odd person with whom his lifetime is three. Essentially Aphrodite has one day to get (at the least) engaged, in order to avoid a point loss for a shrink visit. No pressure.
Things went much smoother then I expected in that respect. Their relationship was already fairly high and they were ready to be engaged by 5:30 pm.
Meanwhile Gaia and Pao spent their last moments together making out like a bunch of teenagers in the upstairs bathroom. Pfft, Elders.
Aphrodite proposed...
..and Stephan accepted, shooting Pao into Platinum.
And not a moment too soon. The Grim Reaper showed up for Gaia. It was the first time I had ever seen him. I wasn't sure which freaked me out more: the fact that I lost control of Gaia, the freaky sound effects or the fact that he looks just plain creepy. Then the hula girls show up and a suitcase drops to the ground by Gaia's feet, her time has finally come.
Even I got a little misty eyed when Aphrodite came running upstairs still in her mother's wedding dress. Though nothing will cheer you up more then that insurance policy message that pops up right after an Elder dies from old age. The Windling's had a respectable 35,000 simolineons added to the family funds. And, I had a respectable gold urn lying on my bathroom floor.
So ends the Second Generation. Aphrodite and Stephan went on to get married to boost Pao back in to Platinum, the wedding night served its purpose, and the Third Generation is on it's way.
Next Time:
-The Third Generation is born.
-Cronus becomes an Adult.
-Stephan gets a job.
-Gaia starts to haunt.
Till then...

I like your Legacy Family. I can't wait to see the third generation. I seem to be stalled somewhat around my fourth right now. I haven't played Sims in awhile either.

Great update! I can't believe Gaia is gone! And soon, it will be Pao's turn. Oh no. Sorry about that. I can't wait to see the new baby! Until then!
