Rock a Baby Bye-Bye
Or: The birth, loss, and re-birth of a child.
So when last we left Pao had gotten engaged and married to Gaia Windling and taken on her name. I forgot what his old name was anyhow, something not worth remembering anyway. And, now Mr. and Mrs. Windling are experiencing the ups and downs of domestic harmony.
Of course this includes the ups and downs of crappy neighbors. Something also true in real life. Though a neighbor has never kicked over my trash can before.
Of course it wasn't all lovey dovey all the time, it seems that even the best of friends argue autonomously (and even have their relationship improve from it) but it made me uncomfortable so I started letting them do less and less on their own and began controlling most of their actions 24/7.
I just tell myself they are arguing over decorating the nursery. I settled on torquise finally and then discovered that there was no baby furniture that matched and felt similarly tiffed. So they're nesting folks, they're just nesting.
Of course, being Leos, these two aren't the cleanest Sims in the world, and since Pao's skills were nearly maxed and he probably would never need to earn one for his job (or so I thought at the time) I set him to keeping the place clean. He got that look on his face everytime I sent him to clean something.
Pao went back to work with new vigor, I think he wants to be able to earn enough to hire a maid, unfortunately he has a long way to go.
Gaia, on the other hand, has worked her way up the career ladder and has a nice fancy car come pick her up everyday and even gets to wear a lab coat. Significance? Who knows. All I know is that with the money from her promotion I could afford to decorate the nursery.
After they got home from work they both had a want to make Woohoo, so I decided they should go for it. They probably wouldn't have time once the little one was born. They both went to sleep afterwards but Gaia woke up early, raced to the bathroom and puked her guts out. Apparently Sims get morning sickness too.
After Gaia started to show she was placed on maternity leave. No going to work. I figured I would have her work on gaining skills, but I was wrong there, oh so wrong. Apparently, once a Sim gets pregnant, the name of the game changes from The Sims 2 to Keeping Gaia Alive. She never passed out, wet herself, or had her hunger reach a dangerous level, but it was a constant juggling of needs with her, and she barely had time for anything else.
After her husband came home her needs were in the green enough for her to work on her Fun and Social safely so I had her and Pao head out to the Dart Board. The one and only source of entertainment for the Windlings for a long, long time. Needless to say, she had a blast.
The next night she went into labor, and here is where things got a little weird. The baby was born and it was a boy. She gripped her stomach and hooted and hollered and then spun around until she was holding a baby and back into her regular outfit again.I was able to name the boy, I named him Cronus, and then my game froze.
My graphics card isn't entirely up to snuff with its drivers and Matt and I can't update it, the reason escapes me presently, and sometimes it freezes up my game. I save religiously normally but I was so excited with the new little one that I had forgotten to save as soon as he was born, as I had been planning to.
I wish I could have an object on the lot that would pop-up and ask 'Have you saved recently?' ever 12 Sim hours or so. That would be extremely helpful and, even though Legacy rules dictate that such an object would be forbidden on that lot, it would still be helpful in other games.
Nevertheless, I had to restart from her second day of pregnancy (or her second trimester, essentially). When she went into labor a second (for me, first again for her) time she gave birth to a baby girl. In honor of Cronus I named the baby girl Aphrodite who, in Greek myth, was spawned from the destruction of Cronus. (I won't get any more specific, it's gruesome, if you're curious look it up.)
Her father wasn't even remotely interested in the birth of his daughter. He woke up at my urging but then mosied on out to the Dart Board and goofed off for several hours then wondered back in, ate some rotting food till I canceled the action, and then congratulated his wife and went to sleep.
It wasn't until the next day that I could get this pic. Ugh, men!
Next time:
-Aphrodite becomes a toddler.
-Will there be time for a spare heir?
-How will Pao deal with spending 8 hours alone in a house with his infant daughter while his wife goes off to work?
Till then...

Congrats on the new member, sorry for what happened to Cronus guess it just wasn't meant to be. I hope Pao starts paying more attention to Aphrodite. I love this blog keep going :DDD
