My Legacy Founder

Or: Just how bad can it really get?

Meet the founder of my Legacy family: Gaia Windling.

Yes, Gaia as in the mother Goddess of the Greek Gods. I figure I will be using a Greek Pantheon for naming my Sims. Even if there weren't ten generations of Gods and Goddesses in the religion of the ancient Greeks there were and are plenty of names available for ten generations of Windlings!

She has custom content hair, skin and eyes. Hopefully this will remain dominant and not die out of the line too quickly. Or, even better, resurface when I don't expect it! Her eyes are silver, hair a bright orange fading to red and her skin has several tattoos on it that can be inherited by her children and grandchildren (male or female). The last won't surface until they reach adulthood, and the flaming hair can only be shown in females (though males can inherit it).

After moving in to the 5x5 lot poor Gaia had only 4,800 Simolineons left to build and furnish a home. Thereby I give you: The Shack.

A bed, a toilet, a cinderblock bookcase, a chair, a refrigerator, a sink, a counter, a toaster oven, a smoke alarm, and a bare lightbulb is all poor Gaia can afford outside of four walls, a roof and a door. How does she keep clean you may ask? You would be suprised what washing a Sim's hands ten times in a row at the sink will do for her hygiene. That is, not much, but enough to keep her from getting too stinky at least.

I lucked out, the first thing that popped up when Gaia checked the newspaper for a job was a job in the Science career. What better occupation for a Knowledge Sim? She took the job and her ride arrived 15 minutes later. Unfortunately this also caused her to miss the welcome wagon which had some ramifications later.

Isn't that just the dinkiest car you have ever seen? She had to try and pull the door shut twice to get it to close.

After she came home from work she needed to have some fun and to sleep. Since there was nothing for her to play with and even with the first pay check she couldn't really afford anything (she had wanted a telescope and to stargaze so I figured, what the hey) I had her fold up the newspaper and make a paper airplane. Here you can see it balled up against the wall while she sleeps in her cheap little bed. She then went on to have nightmares about herself for the rest of the night.

She didn't know anyone as she had missed out on all the people that came to welcome her to the neighborhood due to work so her social ended up getting really low and into the red. At that point I had been able to afford her a shower so she wasn't stinking so bad and then a phone. With the phone I had her call the taxi.

At the community lot she made friends with a shopkeeper and played on the pinball machines a bit until she got tired. I had her call the taxi to go home and then let her do her own thing until it got there. She lounged on a park bench, something I had never seen a Sim do before. As I was soon to learn the Windlings were fated to show me many things I had never seen before and would cause me to laugh, cry, and bang my head in frustration accordingly.

Her next day off I had her lie in wait for the future husband I had selected for her, someone I had dubbed Boy-Toy. He walked down the street, went to the mailbox, and deposited a bill (thanks a lot). At that point Gaia made her move. The poor mailman didn't know what hit him and they quickly became friends.

I had her call him as soon as he was off the screen and he came over. The moment they saw each other they began a long and complicated handshake that took fifteen Sim minutes to complete (I timed it). But, things quickly progressed from there.

I soon had Pao the mailman moved in. By that point Gaia had made enough money to add a seperate bathroom, buy an extra (and better) chair for studying in, buy a bigger and better bed for them to share, and even was able to afford a kitchen table and chairs. Unfortunately there wasn't exactly room for the table and chairs in the shack, so Gaia and her beau just ate outside instead. Plus point to that, rotting food does not down the enviroment of sleeping Sims. Yes!

Good night dear Gaia and dear Pao. They are best friends at this point with a crush on each other. Pao is a popularity Sim and is a Leo just like Gaia! Something else I will end up regretting later.

Sweet dreams. Don't worry Gaia, you won't be flying anywhere anytime soon.

Next time:
-Can Pao and Gaia get married?
-Will Pao ever get a job?
-Can Pao ever afford to change out of that horrible mailman's outfit?
-Will Gaia and Pao ever be able to afford to expand their home?
-When will the second generation of Windlings be brought into the world?

Guess you will have to wait until next time to find out...

I love your blog! I'm doing the legacy challenge, too. I have a knowledge founder, too, and she married a popularity sim! Kind of freaky, when you think about it...

I know they're poor; but what about windows? I'm surprised they didn't die from claustrophobia...maybe, that's just me.
