Getting Old and Running Low on Funds

Filed under Legacy Challenge > 2nd Generation on January 24, 2005

Or: Is it really wise for a child and a toddler to share a room?

There was finally enough free time for Pao to paint a portrait of Gaia. I decided I wanted one done of all of my Legacy heirs, starting with this one.

Actually, the first time I set up the portrait it had the brick wall behind it so I had to have them cancel the painting and move the easel over a little. When I had Pao ask her again she had a huge thought bubble blocking the view of her hair. So I had to cancel a second time. The third time she had a sneer on her lips, I guess she was getting pissed off about all this, and she glared the fourth and fifth times too, finally the sixth times she smiled, and even though there was the beginnings of a thought bubble forming above her head I just cropped it out by zooming in really close. What a grouch!

The portrait was painted just in time too. Gaia aged into an elder the very next day. Actually three things happened all at once that day. First, the headmaster came, stepped out of his car deemed Aphrodite unworthy of admitance to private school without even stepping inside the house, then left. Second, Cronus grew into a toddler. And, third, Gaia aged into an elder.

Pao didn't seem worried that his wife was now an Elder, in fact he gave her a big old Smooch just to show that he still cared.

Other then the grey hair, the new wardrobe, and the snail speed which she now walks around the house with, she still seems to be the same old Gaia. Teaching her toddler the skills he needs.

And, then goofing off until her daughter gets home.

Pao had a want spin up to teach Cronus how to Walk and since Gaia was at work I thought, why not? Good thing too, it was an easy way to put the both of them into Platinum.

After Gaia finished helping Aphrodite with her homework when she got home Aphrodite needed to have some fun and Gaia needed a Logic skill point. So, I had them go play chess together in the little front courtyard I had built just for Gaia's chess set.

Unfortunately, Aphrodite has inherited a double dose of Grouchiness from her parents so she has only one point in her Nice category. While they were playing chess Aphrodite would suddenly point behind her mother and tell her to look at something, causing Gaia to turn away so that Aphrodite could re-arrange a bunch of pieces on the board.

When they started another game and Aphrodite tried the same thing she got caught. It damaged their daily relationship score but I still thought it was pretty funny.

Pao meanwhile had gotten into a bad habit of cooking Lobster Thermidor (only for himself of course) when he was only too notches from being completely full and then eating all of it. This led to a bit of a weight problem for Pao so I sent him to work out. He worked out until he really needed a shower and then once he got out of the shower, this happened:

I'm sorry, Maxis, but that is just plain unnatural. At least he lost the weight.

Sometime after that my fiance's Legacy Founder, Katie, came over to visit. She just kind of walked up in the house actually. She then went into the nursery and plucked little Cronus from his crib and held him. I know she's a Family Sim, but honestly, the parents don't even know her! Right now she is happily married to the mailman in her own neighborhood, Sheldon, and has two children of her own, a child named Lee and a toddler named Michael.

When Aphrodite came home from school she brought home a friend who just kind of ignored her and wandered upstairs.

Yes, at that point I had demolished the coutyard and in its place built a stairwell to take advantage of all that roof-top up there. Aphrodite was having problems sleeping at night because of Cronus wailing or playing with toys or just generally being a noisy toddler. So, I was working on an upstairs to ultimately add two bedrooms, an extra bathroom, and a common skills room to the second floor.

As you can see it is largely unfinished, due to funds, but I still have Pao's and Gaia's career reward objects up here along with Gaia's chess set and the work out machine. None of my Sims have ever come up here autonomously so I thought it was odd that a visiting townie would. She just wanted to goof off with Pao's Teleprompter.

One last pic of Cronus being, well, Cronus. That is, being noisy. I eventually had to pen him up in his high chair so that Aphrodite could get some much needed sleep. A promotion would come in real handy about now.

Next time:

-Cronus grows into a child.
-Uh-oh, the Repo Man!
-Aphrodite becomes a teen.
-And, through it all, Gaia still manages to keep her cool.

Until then...

Wow, I just love your family! The familing hair is so cool! The silver eues are cool too. They give your sims a mysterious look. I hope you're having as much fun doing this challenge as I am reading about it! Keep up the great work! I'm going to add you to my links!
