Frustrated
So, I have been working on Revhart again recently. I have run into a few major stumbling blocks.
One, I need to figure out how to install Text::Aspell because asking the server to resulted in them (several months later) installing aspell alone, which was helpful but not entirely what I wanted.
Two, attempts to install Quick Links have been unsuccessful for reasons unknown. They give conflicting install instructions and have just been giving me a general all around headache.
Three, writing tutorials is boring.
So. I came across a series of small plugins I would like to be able to implement and either have, can't (due to not have the right perl modules) or won't because the plugin is too unweidly.
I thought I would make a small list here for future reference to make use of someday. I have entirely too many bookmarks already.
This MovableType plugin allows you to tag each individual post with a location.MT LocationFor instance, your posts might say:

This is different from some of the other location plugins that I have seen in that it allows you to tag each individual entry, rather than just including your current location on the sidebar.
I thought this would be cool to implement since the Harts are from all over the US. Thing is, there are more cons then pros.
One, the location needs to be typed in to the keywords field for every post a person posts.
Two, this set up links the location to Geourl, something which I am not interested in.
Three, it gets a little too specific in location for my tastes though you can make it more general if you want.
What I want is a way to have an author automatically assigned a location (like in their profile) and for it to show, perhaps in graphical form in the shape of a state, in their post by line. I would also like for an author to be able to change it easily should they move or should they visit any place for an extended period of time. I also would like to leave the Keywords field alone if at all possile.
Maybe I should make use of ExtraFields Plugin/Hack for Movable Type. That will be a while in the making though because I would want it to be a drop down menu (limiting the choices) and it would still have to be selected every time. Maybe I should use this as a guideline and hack the author profiles instead. We'll see.
Another way to do what I want is by finding a way to implement the Visitor Location plugin for authors. I would need to install two perl modules first though File::ReadBackwards and CAIDA::NetGeoClient. Since I don't even know how to install Text::Aspell this could be a problem.
*Sigh*
Anyway, I'll come back to this later because I have just found a solution to one of my problems so I'm back to work. Thanks for listening to me spout off.
