FilmFakers: Croc Park

I find such odd things on the internet. This one though is partly disturbing and partly just... God, am I glad I don't watch TV anymore.

The film is called Croc Park, you think the title alone would give away how badly it sucks. Three actors are hired to play the lead roles in this film only... it isn't a film, it's a reality tv show.

They just want to see how long it takes these poor people to realize that this is totally and completely fake. That they aren't working with film makers but film fakers. None of these people on the crew really know what they are doing. Especially the director. At one point he says:

"I know a director says Action at the start of a scene and that a director says Cut at the end of a scene. That's about it really."

The synopsis of the movie is, of course, riveting as well.

Through a chain reaction of gruesome attacks, four unsuspecting teenagers are all transformed into crocidilian creatures and embark on a blood-crazy, flesh chomping romp through an isolated New Jersey camp. Part crocodile, part alien and part human being, these unholy hybrids stuggle with the external and internal challenges that occur during such a lycanthropic metamorphisis.
FilmFakers - Croc Park Synopsis

If you are planning on watching FilmFakers, which the site says premieres tonight as 10PM ET/PT but it dosen't say what channel. (A search on TV Guide turned up nothing for me. Maybe they couldn't talk anyone into carrying it.) Or, are intrigued enough to want to watch it online here or here, then I suggest you do that first. Major spoilers ahead.

Then again, I'm not a desperate actor looking forward to my first time on a movie set. Maybe if I was, I too would think this is a trashy teen movie and am just kissing butt to keep the job and get the experience. I am pretty sure that was what Ron was doing anyway.

Ron was the "all-american" guy who was cast in the lead male role. I felt kind of bad for him he was all nervous about his first time on camera alone and everything and it was just so they could throw pig blood on him. After that scene Ron was suspicious and seemed to have a feeling something was up. He gave it his damn best though and even with really crappy lines you could tell that he could be a good actor.

Stephanie, on the other hand, seemed to genuinely like the script! I mean, what? She seemed to be a bit of a ditz and molded herself to fit whatever expectations were placed on her and always stayed on everybodys good side, or tried to. Her acting was kind of half way good, she tries at least.

Jenna. She had what was probably one of the worst lines in the whole movie: "You may bite through my flesh, but you will never bite through my soul." Well, it ties anyway with the whole "Kill me! Bite me! Kill me!" thing. She was extremely tolerant of all they put her through, poor thing. And, maybe, with the script sucking as bad as it did the flat delivery of all her lines was all she could manage. Or maybe not.

I honestly think that, with this first episode, they have explored all the possibilities of this pathetic scenario. Future epsiodes might explore violent reactions or the discovery that this is a scam early on but that is about it really.

So anyway, like I said, weird things on the internet... yeah.
